Heart of Darkness Opera
Heart of Darkness Opera
Composer Tarik O’Regan has written a chamber opera based on Joseph Conrad’s novella, Heart of Darkness. Here is a video interview in which the composer discusses the process of creating the opera. This clip contains a spoiler, so be sure to finish the book before you watch it. A link to our recommended edition can be found at the bottom of the page.
More information about this opera can be found on the composers website, and the full score can be found here.
As a counterpoint, here is an informal student produced musical, based on the same story. It appears to have been filmed in a suburban backyard, with few props, and minimal, informal singing.
